A long time ago, there was a good and wise man named Wayel ibn Hajar. He was known for being kind and always trying to do the right thing. One day, during a sad time in Muslim history, he was called by Muawiyah, a leader from Damascus.

Muawiyah asked Wayel, “Why are you not on my side in this disagreement with Ali?” Ali was the fourth Caliph and a very brave and fair leader.

Wayel answered gently, “I am sorry, but I cannot take sides. I remember something the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) once said. He warned us about times like these.”

Wayel told Muawiyah what the Prophet had said:
“Evil has come upon you like the darkest part of the night!”

Then Wayel shared more of the Prophet’s wise words:
“When two groups of Muslims fight each other with swords, stay away from both sides.”

The Prophet wanted Muslims to love peace and avoid war whenever they could. He taught that fighting between brothers in faith brings only sadness and harm.

This story reminds us to love peace, follow the Prophet’s advice, and try our best to get along with others — especially other Muslims.
