Once, many years after the time of Prophet Ismail, the way things were done at the holy Kabah became a bit messy. The people visiting Makkah—the pilgrims—were not being looked after with the care and love they deserved. Then, about fifteen hundred years ago, a very special man named Qusayy ibn Kilab became the Chief of Makkah. He was a very important member of the family tree of our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
Qusayy was full of energy and was a wonderful leader who knew exactly how to help people. He decided to work very hard to make sure everything at the Kabah was neat, tidy, and well-organized once again.
To help the city, Qusayy took on many important jobs at the Kabah, which were called hijabah, siqayah, rifadah, nadwah, liwa, and qiyadah.
Because Qusayy was such a good and capable leader, the city of Makkah began to do very well, and the people became much happier and more successful. His clever ideas helped many people trade and sell things in the city, making Makkah a very busy and bright place.
Qusayy was always honest and very wise, and because of this, everyone looked up to him with great respect. Because of his kind and smart ways of leading, all the people in Makkah were helped, and his own tribe, the Quraysh, became the most important and strongest group in the whole city. Everyone truly loved and admired Qusayy for being such a wonderful Chief of the Quraysh.
