Qusayy was a very kind leader. He would always ask the people of the Quraysh tribe to give their money and food happily. He wanted to make sure there was a special fund to feed and look after the pilgrims who came to visit. He would speak to them with a big smile and say:
“O my dear people of Quraysh! You are so lucky to live right next to Allah’s house. These travelers are the guests of Allah. Out of all the visitors you meet throughout the year, these pilgrims deserve your very best care and love. Please, give them good food and fresh water to drink while they are here for their holy journey.”
By speaking these gentle words, Qusayy encouraged the people of Makkah to open their hearts. They wanted to help the visitors with all their love.
A long time ago, before Qusayy ibn Kilab became the leader, the houses in Makkah were spread out far away from each other. But when Qusayy became the chief of Makkah and the head of the Quraysh, he had a wonderful idea. He asked the people to build their homes close to the Kabah. So, the families of Makkah began to build their houses in a circle around the Kabah.
Qusayy was very careful to make sure there was plenty of open space left for the tawaf. This meant there was enough room for everyone to walk around the Kabah easily. He also made sure there were nice paths and wide streets coming from every direction so people could reach the Kabah quickly. Qusayy let the Quraysh families build their homes closest to the Kabah first, and then the other tribes built their houses just behind them.
