Many years passed by. One day, Hashim set out on a long journey to a land called Syria to trade goods. He was a hardworking man, but on his way back home to Makkah, he became very sick in a place called Gaza. Sadly, Hashim passed away there. He was buried in Gaza, far from his home.
After Hashim died, his brother, Al-Muttalib, was chosen to be the new leader. He became the Chief of the Quraysh tribe and the special helper who looked after the holy Kabah.
Al-Muttalib was a wonderful man. He was very kind, noble, and shared everything he had with others. Everyone in Makkah loved him so much! They even gave him a beautiful nickname, “Al-Fayz,” which means “Mr. Abundance,” because he was so generous. While he was the Chief, the city of Makkah was a happy place. It was peaceful, and there was plenty of food and comfort for everyone.
One sunny day, Al-Muttalib began to think about his young nephew. His name was Shaybah, and he was the son of Hashim. Little Shaybah lived far away in a city called Yathrib with his mother. Al-Muttalib realized that Shaybah was growing up and must be a big boy by now. He thought to himself, “I should go to Yathrib and bring my nephew back home to Makkah.”
So, Al-Muttalib started his long trip to Yathrib. When he arrived, he met a kind lady named Salma. She was Hashim’s widow and Shaybah’s mother. Al-Muttalib spoke to her gently and asked if he could take Shaybah back to Makkah to care for him, just as his brother Hashim would have wanted. Salma was very happy to let Shaybah go with his uncle. Soon, Al-Muttalib and his nephew Shaybah began their journey back to Makkah, each riding high upon their own camel.
